Connect Your Wearable: Sync Health Data with Preslie (iOS & Android)

What This Guide Covers

  • How Preslie connects to your health data
  • How to link your wearable (Oura, Garmin, Fitbit, etc.)
  • How to control what data is shared
  • How your data supports Coaching Insights and performance tracking

How Preslie Connects to Your Health Data

Preslie does not connect directly to your wearable.

Instead, it reads data from your phone’s health platform:

  • iOS: Apple Health
  • Android: Health Connect

Data Flow

Wearable → Wearable App → Apple Health / Health Connect → Preslie

Preslie only accesses data you explicitly allow and uses it to generate Coaching Insights and Health Trends that support reflection and behaviour change.

Why This Matters

Connecting your wearable allows Preslie to:

  • track key health trends such as sleep, readiness, activity, and wellbeing
  • identify patterns that influence your resilience capacity
  • generate more accurate Coaching Insights
  • support your coach with better visibility between sessions

Wearables are optional, but they improve the depth and accuracy of insights.

iOS — Connect via Apple Health

Step 1 — Connect Your Wearable to Apple Health

Example: Oura

  1. Open the Oura app
  2. Go to Menu → Settings → Connected Apps → Data Sharing → Apple Health
  3. Enable:
    • Connect to Health
    • Import data from Health
  4. On your iPhone, open:
Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Oura
  5. Enable the data categories you want to share

These steps are similar for Garmin, Fitbit (via third-party sync), Polar, and other wearables.

Step 2 — Allow Apple Health to Share Data with Preslie

  1. Open Apple Health
  2. Go to Profile → Apps → Preslie
  3. Enable the data categories you want to share

This makes your wearable data available to Preslie.

Step 3 — Connect Preslie to Apple Health

During app setup:

  • Review the data categories shown
  • Tap Allow for the data you want to share

This enables Preslie to generate Health Trends and Coaching Insights based on your data.

You remain in control:

  • Permissions are category-specific
  • You can change or remove access at any time
  • You can skip this step and connect later

Step 4 — Manage Permissions Anytime

Go to:

Apple Health → Data Access & Devices → Apps → Preslie

From there you can:

  • toggle data categories on or off
  • remove access entirely

Android — Connect via Health Connect

Step 1 — Connect Your Wearable to Health Connect

Example: Oura

  1. Open the Oura app
  2. Go to Settings → Data Sharing → Health Connect
  3. Install Health Connect if prompted
  4. Enable data sharing

Steps are similar for Garmin, Fitbit, Samsung Health, Polar, and others.

This enables Preslie to generate Health Trends and Coaching Insights.

You can:

  • adjust permissions anytime
  • skip and connect later

Step 4 — Manage Permissions Anytime

Go to:

Health Connect → App Permissions → Preslie

FAQ: Connecting Your Wearable to Preslie

Do I need a wearable to use Preslie?
No. Wearables are optional. You can still use Preslie with habits and KPIs only. Wearables improve the depth and accuracy of insights but are not required.

Why doesn’t Preslie connect directly to my wearable?
Preslie connects through Apple Health (iOS) and Health Connect (Android) to ensure standardised, secure data access. This allows you to control exactly what data is shared.

What data does Preslie actually use?
Preslie uses selected health and behavioural data such as sleep, activity, heart rate, and recovery signals to identify patterns and support Coaching Insights. It focuses on trends over time, not isolated data points.

Is my health data safe and private?
Yes. You control what data is shared. Permissions are category-specific and can be changed or removed at any time. Preslie does not use your data for diagnosis or resale.

What if I don’t want to share certain data?
You can choose exactly which categories to share. Preslie will only access the data you allow and will still function with limited inputs.

Why is my data not appearing immediately after connecting?
Data syncing can take a few minutes to a few hours depending on your wearable and phone. This delay is normal.

Can I change or remove permissions later?
Yes. You can update or revoke permissions at any time through Apple Health or Health Connect.

What if my wearable doesn’t support all data types?
This is expected. Not all devices provide the same data. Preslie works with available inputs and focuses on patterns rather than completeness.

Will connecting a wearable make coaching more accurate?
Yes. Wearable data adds an objective layer that helps identify patterns in recovery, stress, and performance, improving coaching decisions over time.

What should I do if my wearable isn’t syncing properly?
First confirm that data is visible in Apple Health or Health Connect. If it is not, the issue is with the wearable or its app. If it is visible there but not in Preslie, check permissions and syncing.
